A report from Dave and Karin:
Dart Sailors around Europe are looking back with a smile at last week’s Regatta in La Rochelle, France.
A huge thanks must go to the Town of La Rochelle, AFI Dart and the local Regatta Committee for running 10 races in a great mixture of conditions which definitely allowed the most complete sailors show their range of skills.
The regatta organisation both on and off the water was superb and all sailors felt well looked after from the moment they launched their boats until their return to shore.
Switzerland and IDAS were represented by three boats at the event with the team of Micheal Fehr and Andri Fried finishing the event in 6th place overall.
The location of La Rochelle was spectacular and it was amazing to see the huge diversity of people and craft sharing the water in a hugely positive way.
Our Dart Family had the pleasure of sharing the bay with some of the youngest sailors we have ever seen in optimists with cut down sails alongside Maitre Coq which is only a few months from winning the last Vendée Globe race. Some of the classic boats we saw during the week were much cared for and well-preserved examples of the sailing vessels from past centuries.
It didn’t matter if you sailed, windsurfed, kitesurfed, foiled or did anything else on the water hi or low tech, hi or low skill it was all represented and everyone shared the water in a positive way.
After such a great week on the ocean waves we are all looking forward to future events with more of our Dart Family that were missing from La Rochelle in the near future.
